Water softeners work according to the principle of ion exchange.
In a cylinder, resin granules are used to exchange the calcium and magnesium ions in the water for sodium ions. The water is therefore effectively descaled by the resin granules. Once the resin granules are saturated, their effectiveness decreases and the resin cylinder must be rinsed clean or regenerated. This usually happens automatically via a salt reservoir. The brine water rinses the lime and magnesium from the resin and is discharged via the sewer. After regeneration, the resin filter is clean and the ion exchange can take place optimally again.

01 Why is a yearly maintenance necessary?
A yearly maintenance of your water softener is necessary for the proper functioning of the device.
During this maintenance, your device is completely checked. If necessary, parts are replaced. An important aspect of the yearly maintenance is cleaning the water softener. This is done with a special disinfectant.
Finally, the hardness of the water is checked again and your device will be set up correctly again. Of course, your salt will also be refilled.
02 How much salt does a water softener use?
Salt consumption depends on your personal situation; The number of family members and of course the water consumption. In general we can say that a standard family with an average water consumption needs 2 bags of salt of 25 kg per year.
03 Can a water softener only be connected to hot water?
Yes. A water softener does not necessarily have to be connected to the entire water circuit. Our technician will be happy to explain all the options to you.
04 Can I temporarily switch off my water softener myself?
Yes. For example, are you going on holiday and do not like your electrical appliances to be left on? Do you want to refill your swimming pool but would rather not use soft water for this? Then you can set the water softener to 'Bypass'. Our technician will be happy to explain how to do this.
